EXTender™ and PBXgateway™ 4100 Series Now Interoperates with Ericsson and Nortel

download-pdf

Citel is pleased to announce new Ericsson and Nortel interoperability with its 4100 Series EXTender™ and PBXgateway™ units. The 4100 Series allows small office/home office (SOHO) remote locations with Avaya, Ericsson, or Nortel digital handsets and a broadband IP connection to seamlessly access the features and functionality of the corporate office PBX.

Overview

Citel’s EXTender and PBXgateway 4100 Series was introduced in April 2007, with initial interoperability with Avaya Definity®, Magix®, and IP Office handsets and PBX platforms. Effective September 24, 2007, the Citel 4100 Series also interoperates with Ericsson MD110 and BP250, and Nortel Meridian® and Norstar® handsets and platforms. This new interoperability will allow more enterprises with leading digital handset types to extend corporate PBX features and functionality to SOHO users over IP networks. The EXTender 4100 is a remote location device available in one- or two-port configurations; it is an ideal choice for SOHO locations of up to four people. The PBXgateway 4100 is a two-port termination device deployed at the corporate PBX location; it enables cost-effective deployments of as few as one EXTender 4100.

Product Features

The Citel EXTender 4100 enables remote locations with seamless access to the features and applications of a central PBX, utilizing compatible digital handsets and an IP connection. Each unit connects one or two users to the corporate voice network via DSL or cable modem. With the optional second Ethernet port, a PC may also be connected to the EXTender and utilize the same WAN connection.
The single port EXTender is available with an optional FXO, while on the two-port model the FXO is standard. 911 calls may be programmed to automatically route via the POTS line for immediate access to emergency services, and this routing is automatic in the event of WAN failure.
All Citel EXTender units terminate to a compatible Citel PBXgateway at the corporate PBX location. The EXTender 4100 is compatible with all PBXgateways: the companion 4100 unit, and the higher-capacity PBXgateway I and PBXgateway II. The PBXgateway 4100 is a two-port device offering a more tailored solution for enterprises with few SOHO users; it is Citel’s most cost-effective corporate voice network access termination device for deployments of up to four remote workers.

Configuration

Deploy one or more Citel EXTender 4100 units at each remote location, and a Citel PBXgateway termination device within 500 feet of the central PBX location.  The PBXgateway connects to a PBX station card on the Avaya PBX.
