Our company was originally founded almost 20 years ago in Nottingham, England to develop computer telephony integration (CTI) products . Our original premises were opened by the UK’s then Chancellor of the Exchequer, Rt. Hon. Kenneth Clarke MP, on February 23, 1996.
By 2003 Citel had released its first Handset Gateways, the forerunner of the current Portico TVA range. The company’s reach was widened with the acquisition of the MCK Communications product portfolio in 2006. After a change of ownership in 2008 Citel UK moved its offices to Loughborough University’s Innovation Center to take advantage of the great reputation for R&D that the University had developed.
Since 2008 the Telephone VoIP Adapter (TVA) range has been enhanced for Central Office (CO) use, accessing the large legacy Centrex phone market. Citel has also been investing in telecoms OSS/BSS (Operations Support and Billing Support) systems, notably the Broad-X suite leveraging Citel’s long experience of working with VoIP service providers and larger carriers, particularly Broadsoft users. We firmly believe we have developed an offering that significantly improves productivity and efficiency for VoIP providers utilizing the BroadSoft BroadWorks platform (more on this later).
With the further development of Loughborough University’s Science and Enterprise Park (www.lusep.co.uk/ ) Citel are excited to be moving again to the spacious new, purpose-built Advanced Technology Innovation Centre (ATIC) in September 2015. Though we’re not expecting the Chancellor of the Exchequer in attendance this time we do expect to continue to see great strides in the further development of Citel’s line of products. To our colleagues in the UK, enjoy the move.
